50 Essential Facts About UK Online Bingo
1. There is no strategy to picking bingo cards. Any articles you read that claim to give you 'strategy's' are nonesense.
2. The only way to improve your odds of winning is to buy more cards, but be warned that there are a little over 1.4 million possible combinations of cards!
3. There is no skill in online bingo. Anyone articles that promise to improve your 'skills' in online bingo are nonsense. It is not the same as bingo in bingo halls, where concentration, a good memory and speedy number checking are imperative. In online bingo, the computer does all this for you so you can sit back and relax whilst the game is going on!
4. 90 ball cards are made up of three rows with 9 squares in each row, although only 15 squares have (random)numbers on them. This is the standard type of bingo played in the UK for years.
5. In 90 ball bingo each of the nine columns will hold certain numbers. The first column holds numbers 1-10, the second 11-20 and so on.
6. 75 ball cards are made up of 5 rows with 5 squares in each row. This is the US version of bingo, but is still offered in nearly all online UK bingo sites.
7. In 75 ball bingo there will be a pattern on the card (this can be anything) and the aim is to dab the numbers in the pattern, so no prizes for getting the other numbers! Here is an example patern:

8. A 'strip' of cards are 6 cards which cover all the numbers that can be called across the cards. So in 90 ball bingo a strip of cards will contain 5 cards with 15 numbers on each card and every number from 1 to 90 will be on one of the cards. It is usually possible to buy strips.
9. In 90 ball bingo there are usually three prizes. A prize for whoever gets dabs a row first, a prize for two rows dabbed and finally the biggest prize for getting a Full House (having all numbers dabbed)
10. There are one-line and two-line games sometimes, which end, as the names suggest, when one player has covered that amount of lines.
11. There are three types of jackpot: progressive jackpots, super jackpots and standard jackpots.
12. Progressive jackpots are added to everygame until such a time as they are won. Usually if you call "bingo" within a preset number of calls then you will win otherwise the jackpot will be added to until it is won.
13. Normal jackpots are made up from the amount of players and the cost of cards. The greater the number of players, then the greater the jackpot will be. The first person to win will of course claim the jackpot!
14. Super jackpots are similar to progressive jackpots, only the number of calls needed to win within will increase each game giving players a greater chance of winning as long as the pot remains.
15. Online bingo players are very loyal! On average an online bingo player will spend between 5 and 18 months* on a single site before switching to a new one. This is a testament to the community that surrounds bingo sites online.

16. The largest jackpot to be won in online bingo at the time of writing is believed to have been £162,701.97 at Gala Bingo, although this is unsubstantiated. Mr Tiddles is sure they were purring when the final ball came up for that one!
17. If players call bingo at the same time, then the prize is divided up by the number of winning cards.
18. Pretty much all sites nowadays are 'auto-dab'. This means that if any of the numbers called are on any of your cards then they will be dabbed automatically without you haveing to do anything.
19. In most sites, cards will 'auto-arrange'. The cards will be displayed in decending order, so the card which is closest to winning will always be at the top.
20. Usually cards will highlight in different colours when you have 3, 2 and 1 numbers left.
21. If you lose connection when you are playing (say your computer breaks down or something) then don't panic. Most sites know what tickets everyone has got and will play the game for you and credit your account if you win. Of course you won't be able to gloat if you do win, but at least you won't lose out.
22. Most larger bingo sites offer chat rooms in which you can talk to other players. There are a lot of abbreviations used. Check out out our bingo lingo page to cast an eye over the more common ones.
23. The chat rooms run at the same time as the games, and will be on the same screen, so you can chat and play at the same time.
24. Chat rooms are usually run by moderators who will be able to answer questions there and then.
25. There is a whole social scene in chat rooms. Some are better than others (check out Mr Tiddles reviews to get the lowdown on them), but the idea is always the same: make friends and have fun!

28. Remember that Bingo is meant to be a bit of fun. Although some people do win big prizes, most don't, so don't spend more than you can afford.
29. Most bingo sites will award you with Bingo Credits for a whole variety of things. Chat hosts may have mini-competitions during bingo games, plus doing things such as reffering friends will probably get you some bingo credits. These can be used to play games but cannot be withdrawn. They are really an incentive to keep you playing at that particular site.

31. Forums are a great way of garnering the latest information about a site or sites. The top bingo sites will have their own forums about that particular site. Remember that these are peoples opinions and not necessarily facts!
32. Although all bingo sites you register on will tell you that your email address will not be given to any 3rd parties, Mr Tiddles has seen his gambling related Spam mail shoot up after registering! Although this poses no security threat, it is a bit annoying!
33. Some unscrupulous sites will advertise voucher codes for bingo sites, but when you click on the link to see them, they will just redirect you to the site. You can tell these sites usually by their content and quality of design. If it looks cheap and there is very little information on the site, then it is likely that it's no good.

41. Slots are always simple affairs more akin to one-arm-bandits than to Fruit machines. They may have multi-line wins though which can be confusing on some machines, if the graphics are cluttered.
42. Although there are over 250 different bingo sites*, there are only four or five main software providers. This means that if you look at a lot of different sites, you will start to see similarities between sites, particularly in the extra games.
